« Glossing Over | Main | California Drivin' »

For those of you that I haven't already mentioned this to, I realized something a couple months ago that I think I need to document.  I'll preface this by saying that I do not want to be a spy.  However, I do want to have a spy's training.  Maybe it's my desire to learn new things.  Or maybe, when put in an extraordinary situation, I want to know how to handle myself.  So, I've started to create a list of things that I should learn.  Here it is so far:

  • Skydive (UPDATE: Jumped Sept. 4th, 2004)
  • Fire a gun (UPDATE: Went to shooting range July 9th, 2005)
  • Scuba dive
  • Learn foreign languages
  • Some kind of martial art.   I understand Brazilian Jujitsu is good for that sort of thing.
  • Picking locks
  • Hotwire a car
  • Hostile Environment Training

I'm planning on going skydiving with Jeff in December, if he can get up the nerve, and I'll keep you posted on my progress.  Any ideas of other things to add to the list?

Sure. You should learn: how to hide things in bodily cavities; how to strangle a rabbit (just in case); how to say your name backwards with relative ease; obtain as many false passports as possible; notice minute details within split seconds of entering a room (see Bourne Identity); and visit Durham to see Jason. That's all I can think of at the moment.

Some suggestions:
* Reading lips.
* I think repelling would be more useful than skydiving.
* Driving at high speeds.
* Being able to subdue angry water buffaloes by looking them in the eye and giving them the thumb/pinkie surfer sign (see Crocodile Dundee).
* After you learn a martial art, hire an assistant to live in your house and attack you at any time. Place surveilance cameras throughout your home to capture the hilarity.

Pete

here are some suggestions for things to learn and a few things to work on as you are training:

-learn to defuse a bomb by cutting the blue wire with :02 left - (only cutting the blue wire after long debate about red wire)
-learn to pickpocket
-get a good wig, go to Jamie's store and buy something from her without her recognizing you
-come up with multiple smart remarks for response when you are being tortured and asked "Who are you working for??!" example - "M-I-C" (pause)"K-E-Y....M-O-U-S-E"
-prepare yourself for the day you inevitable meet your twin you knew not existed
-fall in love with your FBI handler, but be forbidden to date him (I love ALIAS)
-get a dog

And be sure to claim that you don't know what you have been doing for the past two years of your life, only to cover up for a crime that you did.
