« Work Out Or Not | Main | Back »

A lot of stuff is happening with Jamie's work these days.  She's going to be leaving Quiksilver at the end of April.  I'm not sure if she will ever blog again, so I'll be filling you in if she doesn't.

Sorry to hear the news. Unless its a good thing. If its a good thing than I'm sorry my discounts are ending. Thanks for filling us in - there are only so many times I can re-read about Q.T.'s old cell phone number.

Maybe something serious in topic...is there anything in CA about having to legally give notice of leave of work?? I know in Texas, its you can leave or fire whenever for no reason. Any thoughts, especially as this might come in handy for me.

I don't know about legally. I mean, the norm is two weeks notice, but that was what we did back in Texas, too. Jeff might know.

I think you can be asked to leave work without notice. You can also leave work without notice. In most employment contracts or forms you sign when you first start work there is probably some penalty for quiting/firing before two weeks. It really depends on your employee status: contract, at-will, salaried, etc.

Most of my potential jobs are salaried anyway. I thought there was some law in CA that says you can't fire for no reason or some crap?

If its a position like a government position, you have to give a reason for terminating a person. You can still fire someone without a reason, but the chances of you getting sued are high.
