So, B-dub and Jan came into town last week, which was mucho fun-o.  We did a ton of stuff, including going down to the beach in San Diego where the Dudley's had their group from UBC.  We hung and relaxed at the Sieber residence for a couple days, where Jeff and Sieber extended family joined us for Dr. Pepper tacos.  Then we had a fun-filled day in LA, seeing the sights, eating good food at Rubio's with Clinton and some of his Baylor friends, going to see a movie at the ArcLight (Eternal Sunshine, which I loved, but the girls hated) where Mike and Robin Hogan joined us, eating good food again at Vert, then capping off the day with the Crowders at Trader Vic's.  Now, sadly, Jamie's sick, and I'm doing my best to fight it off, but I seem to be losing.

I'm proud to announce that I have successfully worked out the last three days.  I'm getting the swing of the elliptical machine, and I'm liking it.  I'm definitely sore.  The real test now is will I get back to it next week after B-dub and Jan leave?

It's a little bit blurry, because I was taking the pic on the sly.  I was at In-N-Out tonight, and in comes Dominic Monaghan (Merry from Lord of the Rings), and yes I did have to look his name up.  He was unaccompanied, and I was quite surprised to see that no one approached him.  Wish the pic was better quality.

In case you missed it, Baylor was spotlighted tonight on Fox News Channel's O'Reilly Factor.  O'Reilly had on two guests from Baylor, one the founder of Baylor Freedom, a gay-rights type organization, and the other a student who was stripped of his scholarship after he came out of the closet.  That's right, just the two of them.  Not a single straight Baylor student.  O'Reilly also accused Dr. Sloan of intimidating Baylor students who wanted to talk about the issue of same-sex marriage.  If you hadn't heard about his, here's some links to check out.

The original editorial that sparked it all:

Response from Dr. Sloan:

Response from the Baylor Student Publications Board:

After the show, I sent O'Reilly this email:

Bill,

Couldn't you have found one straight Baylor student to come on tonight?  I'm a Baylor grad ('00), and I can assure you that the homosexuals and those who support gay marriage at Baylor are in the vast minority.  I have seen no evidence to support the idea that Dr. Sloan is intimidating anybody, only allegations.  I've also not seen any evidence to suggest that Baylor students are not allowed to discourse freely about gay marriage and any other topic.  The administration merely won't publish that discourse in it's university newspaper, because it doesn't want its constituents to misconstrue statements printed there as being endorsed by the university.

I haven't heard it yet, but I'm sure it won't be long before someone blames the recent tragic attack in Spain on America.  They won't accuse of us of actually being involved in the attack, but they will find us to blame because of our arrogance and wealth.

On our way to Chipotle for lunch today with Clinton, we saw up ahead on Beverly Drive that some sort of film shoot was going on.  As we drove by, there was none other than John Travolta and James Woods sitting on two chairs side by side on the sidewalk.

I got the email about the Elliptical machine shipping yesterday.  It is scheduled to arrive on the Ides of March.  Should I beware?

We just got a brand new Target, just 3 1/2 blocks away from us.  Pretty exciting.  There are a bunch of other stores going in, but Target is the only one currently open.  I strolled down there this hot afternoon, and they do indeed have the new James Bond game, which I am muchly looking forward to purchasing.

Ha!  I bet you thought I was referring to the 3-dot variety of ellipses in my title, but I wasn't!  Granted, I misled you by using the 3-dot variety twice in the title, but still, you fell for it!  In reality, I'm referring to the Elliptical Trainer that I ordered today that is going to get Jamie and I into shape.  Why don't we join a gym?  Elliptical is cheaper than a 6 months at the gym.  Why don't we run outside?  Our neighborhood is nothing but traffic, and we'd have to stop every block.  But Pete, I've seen your apartment, where on earth will you fit this contraption?  Well, we're getting rid of our little table in our kitchen, and it will go there.  Then, we'll roll it out into the living room to use it.  To celebrate our new purchase, I purchased a dozen Krispy Kreme.

I've now seen several different trailers for Jim Carrey's upcoming release Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind.  The initial teaser struck me as bizarre and a little bit darker than I usually like.  But then, out came the full trailer, and all of a sudden I had a better feeling about it, and I am now looking forward to seeing it.  After pondering what could have caused my change of heart, I realized that it was the use of ELO's (Electric Light OrchestraMr. Blue Sky in the background.  If you know the song, then you know it's hard for the mood to be dark when that song is happening.  Anywho, I just thought it was interesting that a song choice for a trailer can really change a lot.

I think I'm supposed to feel my first twinge of getting old now.  My 10-year high school reunion has been planned for October 23, 2004.  The timing is actually kind of good news.  Having never had a high school reunion before, I hadn't thought about the fact that it might tend to be planned around homecoming.  Instead, I was assuming that it would be planned for the 10-year anniversary of our actual graduation, so I expected it might happen as early as this May.  How naive.  Fortunately, I now have five extra months to become insanely wealthy or hugely famous.  Anyway, I think I'm supposed to feel old, but when I imagine what my high school contemporaries might be doing these days, I can't help but feel like I still have the freedom of youth.
