It's been a crazy week.  We headed down to Fallbrook last weekend, because there was a birthday party for Connie and Aaron on Saturday in Coronado, and because Jamie was booked to work in Irvine all week.  The place was about the same distance from our place as from the Siebers, but the traffic is worse on our side.  Jamie ended up working just Mon, Tues, and half of Wednesday, because she got called to be a key stylist on a reshoot for which she had assisted a couple of weeks ago.  The original lead was out of the country, so they asked Jamie.  This was a big deal, and would have been her first key job, so we headed back up to L.A. on Wednesday.  Unfortunately, the reshoot didn't happen yesterday and today as planned, and we have no idea if or when it might happen.  We're hoping that they get Jamie to do it, even if the original lead gets back from her trip, but who knows?  Backing up a bit, to add to the craziness, Don had to go to the emergency room Monday night.  He was in incredible pain, and for those who know Don, you know that if he even mentions the pain, that it's some serious pain.  Turns out he had two kidney stones.  The next day, Connie came down with the flu or bronchitis.  I'm guessing that she caught it at the emergency room.  Today, I started to feel a little under the weather myself.  I've got a lot of work to do, but I'm going to try to take it easy over the weekend.  We're heading back down to Fallbrook tomorrow.  Who knows what next week will bring?

BTW, it's been raining on and off here lately, but we haven't heard any bad postponement news on our condo, so that counter up there is still on target!

I found out the last time we were out at the condo that the people that are scheduled to close first in our building are scheduled to close on March 16th.  Once they close, they can't push us back because of any type of construction delays.  So, if their closing really happens, we'll know that April 12th is firm for us.  Here's hoping!

tonySmall.jpgWe spent all day yesterday (after Chatelaine) at the Arrested Development set with Tony.  We hung out in his trailer, munched on junk food from craft services, and walked around the Fox lot.  Tony received a set of publicity photos while we were hanging out, and he gave us a copy.

The lights now work in our new condo, so we should be able to get some cool new pics the next time we go out there.  They really haven't done much new stuff in there since they put all the tile down.  But we've got pictures of the model apartment I think around here somewhere.  I'll add them if I find them, but at the moment, I'm at Clinton's waiting for a package from FedEx while he's running some errands.

Cool news today out at the condo.  I already knew that there were ethernet drops throughout our place for connecting to the internet, and that these were all connected to a router in our upstairs closet.  What I didn't know is that it's also a wireless router, so I won't even have to mess with setting that up.  Also, CompUSA, who is in charge of all of the wiring stuff seemed very willing to work with me to mark where the speaker wires in the ceiling are, so I don't HAVE to hire them to mount my speakers if I don't want to.  More to come about the wiring fun.

I noticed something interesting the other day in my search engine referrals.  If you go to http://video.search.yahoo.com/ and type in segues, you'll see a few of our videos, with still shots displayed.  Pretty cool, and very interesting.  In related news, I burned my first dvd last night on my new computer.  It's only a matter of time before I compile all the Segues stuff I have on to a single DVD, but don't hold your breath, as it will be more than just a few minutes.

Fun

Since I'm up late, I'm the first to get to wish Mark a Happy Birthday!  Too late to crop this picture, though.

I took the time to upgrade to the latest version of dasBlog 1.7.  Things went quite smoothly.  Some of the directions needed to be read several times to make sense, but everything worked on the first try.  Something new in the comments is the "capcha" image that makes sure that an actual person is commenting.  If this is annoying, tell me, and I'll turn it off.  I'm also excited about the new Publish option, which will allow me to put in entries just for myself, for historical purposes.  Ooh, and it looks like we've got FreeTextBox 3.0 for entries now!

Ben noted that I didn't mention what kind of computer I got.  I did link to it in my first post, but very subtly.  Here's a link to what I bought, at Best Buy where I bought it.  The reason I'm not mentioning what computer I bought is as a reaction to how horrible their customer service was for Clinton as he attempted to buy his computer.  He eventually went to Best Buy and bought the same one I did.  The computer itself is great, and I'm very excited to make full use of it, including the Windows Media Center, but I'm not going to hook it up until we move into our new place.  New move-in date, by the way, is April 12th!

I had to use my computer too much in the first day or so to actually pay much attention to it.  Plus, I was occasionally still having to RDP to my old slow computer, and I was still having to do a lot of waiting.  During that time, I had planned to move my old good hard drive over to my new machine, but when I opened it up, I realized that it was a different kind of hard drive interface.  At least I was able to take advantage of that time to teach Clinton a little bit about the inside of a computer.  I was very impressed with the inside of the computer.  The case is a snap to open, requiring no screwdrivers.  There is a massive, wind-tunnel sized fan that helps keep everything cool.  It looks like it is expecting more hard drives, as access to the power connectors, SATA ports, and drive bays is front-and-center.  Once I finally got my old computer turned off, I also noticed something else...nothing.  My new computer is incredibly quiet, which almost makes working seem peaceful.

Now that I've actually gotten to play around on my computer, I'm really enjoying the speed.  Visual Studio projects open up so much faster.  Also, switching back and forth between HTML and Design view is immediate now; it took way too long on my old machine.  I originally set up the computer with the supplied keyboard.  The feature of being able to open and close my cd drives from buttons on my keyboard was almost enough for me to not switch back to my wireless keyboard...almost.  I figure there's got to be some way to set that up via software.  Anybody know a keyboard shortcut for ejecting a cd?

Setting up my printer was quite simple, as this computer wants to use USB ports.  My old computer wasn't as USB friendly.  Once installed, I shared it and then went over to Jamie's computer, fully expecting to have to install it on her machine as well.  Somehow, as if by magic, when I opened up the Printers folder on her computer, before I could even do anything, the printer attached to my computer appeared before my very eyes, well, in icon-form.  No setup necessary.  Also, and this could be my fault for screwing with permissions, now Jamie can open up our Quicken data file over the network without facing a Windows logon prompt.  Which is great, because now she doesn't need me to relink stuff after her computer is rebooted.
